There are so many things I LOVE about St. Theresa and God has filled my heart by allowing me to teach children about His love and how to be good stewards in the world. Here are a few reasons St. Theresa is my home:
- When you walk the halls of STCS you will automatically know we are a Christ-centered school.
- My teaching team; they are the hardest most dedicated teachers I have ever met. Our teachers are a prime example of life-long learners. We continue to strive for the best educational practices for our students and our classrooms. We take our passion and profession as a vocation in life and are proud of it.
- The students and their families are generous, supportive, and giving. We truly show what a real community looks like; the child, parents, and teacher collaboratively work together to always decide what is best for the child socially and academically.
My name is Nicki Castellano and I am your child’s first grade teacher. First grade is an exciting and very big academic growing year for children. I am thrilled to work with your child and get to know his/her strengths in the classroom as well as outside the classroom.
My husband, Moses, and I have been married for 8 years in October and have two daughters, Reagan and Kennedy. We reside in Norwalk, but our children attend STCS. Your child will get to know Reagan and Kennedy very well because I tell and share a lot of funny stories. Reagan attends school and STCS and Kennedy will be here shortly! Moses and I are excited and love STCS, but mostly the faith-filled environment that consumes our parish- school community.
As a teacher, I would like to be a positive role model and help guide young children to reach success, not only academically, but on a social and personal level as well. I hope to be a strong leader by bringing out the unique qualities in each child that crosses my path.
First grade is such a growing academic year for all of the students. I think you will be amazed at the progress your child will have throughout the entire year. Good parent-teacher communication is vital to assure we have a successful year in first grade. I feel it is extremely important, especially in the primary grades. If you have any questions or concerns, please call or email me.
I enjoy being at STCS because it is a welcoming atmosphere that accepts all students and families. The staff that I work with are wonderfully supportive of me professionally and personally, especially when it comes to developing and sharing my faith. St. Theresa School feels like home.
I am originally from a small rural town in West Central Iowa (Scranton). Des Moines was “the big city” growing up and we only drove to it a couple times a year. I graduated from the University of Northern Iowa, GO Panthers! I love teaching. I can’t stop thinking about it, even in the summer! My other hats include being a mom for 2 girls, Josie (6th grader) and Jaylynn (Kindergarten). My husband works for Famous Dave’s and we enjoy BBQ at our house quite a bit. I am a Girl Scout leader and a volunteer at Wednesday night Faith Formation at St. Theresa. I keep busy because life is just too much fun and I don’t want to miss anything.
