My name is Marcy Custer and I am happy to be at STCS for my second year. I grew up in Des Moines and went to Roosevelt High School. I received my Bachelor’s in Psychology from Upper Iowa University and Master’s in Education in School Counseling from Liberty University in Virginia. I spent 16 years with my toes in the sand living in South Florida 5 miles from the beach. I am finally getting acclimated to the winters in Iowa again except for the part where I have to trade flip flops for boots! I am really enjoying my role as the school counselor and guidance teacher at St. Theresa’s. I believe in the development of the whole child and work hard to incorporate a healthy balance of mental, social/emotional, and physical well-being in our program. I am an advocate for teaching life skills and promoting equity in educational opportunities for all of our students. I am passionate about the role I play in maximizing student achievement.
I have a 10-yr. old daughter, Lily who brings me so much joy. She loves horses so I spend much of my free time in muck boots hanging out at the barn where she rides. When I have free time I like to play board games with Lily, read, shop, and bake. I try and spend a month during the summer in Florida visiting family and friends.
