What our families have to say about St. Theresa Catholic School:

Rachelle, Primary Parent

It’s hard to put into words what St. Theresa means to our family. It’s more than just our children’s school. It’s certainly more than just a space where we can practice our faith. It’s another home filled with family who care about us; that celebrates the good news and proactively reaches out when times are tough. To put it simply, they love fiercely and there is absolutely no substitute for that kind of compassion.

Every teacher is kind, courteous, respectful and loving. Every room is designed by passionate teaching professionals to enhance the student experience, with a strong focus on STEM. The staff works diligently to create this unique learning environment so students can use a multitude of methods to learn, both with classmates and on their own learning levels. The staff shows students how they live their Catholic faith daily because it is important for them  to see how we all should behave and remember to love one another. Lastly, both of my children have special needs and every teacher has gone above and beyond to accommodate them and show them unconditional love. As a result, they are happy, safe and excited to learn and explore their faith everyday. It’s safe to say that they don’t just attend classes here, they thrive!

We had considered several schools for our 3 boys, but 10 minutes into our visit to Saint Theresa I knew we had found exactly what we were looking for. Not only was the welcome warm and friendly, but the STEM focused curriculum was very impressive. It just felt right! Mrs. Stemler has assembled a wonderful staff, which I’m convinced is due to her strong leadership. There have been occasions when we’ve needed to have conversations about various topics and Mrs. Stemler was always available and open to everything we had to say. She was excellent with us as parents and with our boys.

Oshiomowe, Preschool Parent

The Principal, teachers, and staff have all worked with her in one capacity or other to ensure her growth and development in areas where she was struggling academically. Our daughter has acquired knowledge, skills, and abilities that have strengthened her learning foundation.

My family and friends are so touched by the care, concern, and support that we have received concern from the St. Theresa school community. We are thankful for the great friends and family-like atmosphere that is truly a gift to behold.

Jill, Primary Parent

Both of our daughters have attended St. Theresa.  My oldest daughter is a sophomore at Dowling Catholic.  STCS did a very good job preparing her for the academic challenges of high school.  My youngest daughter is currently in 2nd grade at St. Theresa.  There are many reasons we have embraced STCS.  Our teachers live their faith in the classroom.  My daughter attends all school Mass once a week, but she prays multiple times a day at school. Through social justice and service hours, my children have the opportunity to work with their classmates and teachers to help their fellow neighbor.   STCS is more than just a school.  It is a family.

Veronica, Middle School Parent

The love, attention and the concern teachers have with students is indescribable. For the first time our son enjoys going to school and sleeps more peacefully at night. What we can say is that St. Theresa Catholic School really cares for our  children at an academic and spiritual level.

Nancy, Preschool Parent

St. Theresa is the most caring, most generous and most compassionate institution in my life.  I have seen many organizations, both public and private through my  life, and I can’t find one that measures up to STCS.   At 52 years old, I unexpectedly became a parent this year.  Handling life is harder now than it used to be, and through Covid 19, of course, even harder.  Had it not been for the stability of STCS during this time, I would have never learned myself how to teach him what he needs to know, now and in the years to come.  The countless learning videos, parent packets, instructions, and kindness given by his teachers allowed him to excel during a time when I was afraid he would fall behind and  allowed me to understand the thinking and feeling process of a little boy.

Chelsea, Primary/Preschool Parent

We liked the idea of the STEM school, looking at the future of our kids, not realizing it starts in pre-k! On STEM Day, the pre-k kids built parachutes, while the older grades got to build rockets and shoot them. The Maker Space has been an amazing addition to the school and just goes to show the continued hard work the school is going to for our kids.

The best part about St. Theresa is the people. It’s a family! They’ll tell you it’s a family and they mean it! They don’t just say it. The amount of love and care from the faculty, staff, parents, and kids shows each and every day! Whether it’s from Principal Stemler saying hi to every student by name that walks in the building, or by an 8th grader holding the door for my kindergartener as he runs in the door each morning.

Rebecca, Primary Parent

My children love school. They love the teachers, they love the staff, they love their friends, and they love that they can talk and learn about God at school. And I love that they love school. As a parent, of course I want them to succeed and even excel, but more importantly, I want them to want to go to school each day, and this is the gift that St Theresa has given my children. But St Theresa is more than just a place of education for my children–it is so much more than that. It is a community for them, as well as for myself and my husband. I volunteer by reading to my daughter’s class most weeks at library time, and my husband (St. Theresa alumn) was the narrator in the last music concert. My mother is even one of the Girl Scout leaders for my daughter’s troop. This makes us a part of the St Theresa community as well, and is again a gift that St. Theresa has given us.

Mike & Vicki, Primary/Preschool Parents

I was raised in a small town, and St. Theresa definitely has that small town feel.

Our family is still fairly new to the school, having a first grade and Pre-K student, but we do not question our school choice.  Most mornings I walk my children into their classrooms and also volunteer for class parties and field trips.  There hasn’t been any time that I didn’t feel welcome.  It is refreshing to be greeted from all the staff, and it eases my mind knowing my children are in a great hands.

We are also impressed with the focus St. Theresa has on S.T.E.M. learning. To be recognized on a state level is a big accomplishment and something to be proud of.

From flooding to an unknown virus, the St. Theresa staff and community always step up.  It is clear that the students are their priority.

Theresa, Primary Parent

We transferred our daughter from another school to St. Theresa’s this past school year. The unknown is always scary, but the experience we have had in the last 9 months has been nothing but incredible! Everyone we come in contact with has bent over backwards to make us feel welcome and supported. This past couple of months have been stressful due to the cancelling of the rest of the school year.  As a household with 2 parents who are essential workers, it has been difficult trying to do home schooling and work full time outside of the home. Mrs. Stemler and all of the teachers have made everything so user friendly and continually help to ease the stressful times.

We consider ourselves very lucky and very thankful that we made the decision to send our daughter to St. Theresa’s!
