Third Grade

Nicki Castellano

Why STCS?

There are so many things I LOVE about St. Theresa and God has filled my heart by allowing me to teach children about His love and how to be good stewards in the world.  Here are a few reasons St. Theresa is my home:

  1. When you walk the halls of STCS you will automatically know we are a Christ-centered school.
  2. My teaching team; they are the hardest most dedicated teachers I have ever met.  Our teachers are a prime example of life-long learners. We continue to strive for the best educational practices for our students and our classrooms.  We take our passion and profession as a vocation in life and are proud of it.
  3. The students and their families are generous, supportive, and giving.  We truly show what a real community looks like; the child, parents, and teacher collaboratively work together to always decide what is best for the child socially and academically.

Who Is Castellano?

My name is Nicki Castellano and I am your child’s third grade teacher.  Third grade is an exciting and very big academic growing year for children.  I am thrilled to work with your child and get to know his/her strengths in the classroom as well as outside the classroom.

My husband, Moses, and I have been married since October 2009 and have two daughters, Reagan and Kennedy.  We reside in Norwalk, but our children attend STCS.  Moses and I love STCS because of the faith-filled environment that consumes our parish- school community.

As a teacher, I would like to be a positive role model and help guide young children to reach success, not only academically, but on a social and personal level as well. I hope to be a strong leader by bringing out the unique qualities in each child that crosses my path.

I think you will be amazed at the progress your child will have throughout the entire year.  Good parent-teacher communication is vital to assure we have a successful year in third grade.  I feel it is extremely important, especially in the intermediate grades.  If you have any questions or concerns, please call or email me.

My name is Jenna Sokolowski and I am going to be one of the third grade teachers this year! I just recently graduated from Benedictine College with a degree in Elementary Education (emphasis in math) and a minor in Theology! I am so excited to enter the classroom for the first time this coming fall as a part of the Saint Theresa family!

I grew up and graduated high school in Johnston and am so excited to be back in the Des Moines area and close to home! I served on staff for two summers at Catholic Youth Camp (a place I still like to call home) and enjoy going to the lake and spending time outdoors!

As a teacher, I am most looking forward to getting to know my students so that I can best cater the learning environment to them, their interests and how they learn most effectively! I am so excited to be a young teacher who gets to encounter students and walk with them on their path toward sainthood and hopefully get to make some incredible memories along the way!
