St. Theresa Food and Personal Care Collections
DMARC’s (Des Moines Area Religious Council) Food Pantries distributes food through 14 pantry sites and 29 mobile sites. Volunteers are needed to work in the Food Pantry Distribution Center, especially on the Mondays after Food Pantry Sundays. Please call 277-6969
3rd Sunday Monthly Food Collections
DMARC is made up of over 125 member congregations in the Des Moines area, to which St. Theresa belongs. A collection is taken every 3rd Sunday at St. Theresa’s for items such as peanut butter, cereal, canned fruits & vegetables, pasta, rice, beans, soup, canned meat, toiletries and cash contributions. Note: St Theresa has its own food pantry in the church office but it does not receive this monthly food pantry collection. This collection and cash all goes to DMARC to serve the greater Des Moines community.
Volunteers count items after the 4:30 Sunday Mass. Other volunteers transport the items to DMARC, where they are then distributed to one of 14 food pantry locations and 29 mobile pantry sites. From those centers, the food items are distributed to needy families in the Des Moines area.
