Peace and Justice

 The St. Theresa Peace and Justice (P&J) committee is a small group of parishioners working to promote Peace and Justice issues in our local community and on a national and international level.  

  • Promoting the need for fair trade through:
    • Education and awareness;
    • Ongoing fair trade product sales with the self-service kiosk;
    • St Theresa Christmas Bazaar sale; and
    • A virtual fair trade sale during the pandemic.

  • Administering St Theresa First Fruits contributions. For more information on St Theresa First Fruits click here.
  • Serving as contact point for St Theresa Support Congregation with Family Promise of Greater Des Moines (FPGD). P&J coordinates funds and meal/overnight support to FPGD.
  • Working with St Theresa Catholic School (STCS) to provide and promote Catholic Social Teaching during Social Justice Week at STCS.
  • Promoting and providing matching funds to the annual Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD). 
  • Increasing awareness of specific social justice issues through communication of educational information and opportunities to the parish.
  • Organized and conducted St Theresa Peace & Justice Committee Forum on Priest Abuse Crisis. 
  • Served as a start-up advisory board for the St Theresa Food Pantry. Click here for more information on the pantry.
