Tuition Assistance

Tuition Assistance 2017-03-29T15:05:05+00:00

Finances should not keep children from a well-rounded Catholic education. If tuition cost is the only thing putting St. Theresa just out of reach, there are options from help paying for lunches and uniforms to full or partial scholarships.

Contact Mary Baker, 515-2770178 ext. #217, for assistance and questions.

To become eligible for any financial scholarships you will need to complete the FAIR application.

How to Make STCS Affordable

Catholic school is an investment; many of our families take advantage of one or more of the following opportunities for tuition assistance. All your information is kept confidential. Please don’t hesitate to contact the school office to take advantage of any of the following options.

CTO: Catholic Tuition Organization is a tuition assistance program run by the Diocese of Des Moines. Funds are given out based on income and family size. Families looking to apply can get an application from the school office. Applications for Round 1 are due the first Friday in April. Visit the CTO website for details.

Project Hope: donations from parishioners in the Des Moines Diocese create scholarships to support Catholic education. Like CTO, funds are distributed based on income and have an August deadline. Ask the school office for an application. Visit the Diocese of Des Moines for an application in English or Spanish.

STCS Foundation Grant: comes directly from the STCS community. This program is often well-suited for families going through a major life change that may only temporarily, but dramatically affect a family’s ability to cover all tuition costs. STCS Foundation Grant can be drawn upon year-round.

Tuition Angels: we often receive spontaneous contributions from STCS community members who want nothing more than to see St. Theresa students continue to get a wonderful Catholic education.

Parish Rates: becoming a member of the parish can offset tuition rates. Contact the school or school office  for current rates.

Free and Reduced Lunch: Families who qualify may be able to take advantage of free or reduced prices for breakfast and lunch.

Referral: refer a family that decides to enroll for the next school year and receive a $500 tuition credit

SCRIP: offset the price of lunch, uniforms, even tuition by purchasing SCRIP. Most major retailers along with some local companies will return a percentage of your gift card purchase to you. This is a great way use everyday purchases to fund school needs. Many people are able to cover the cost of monthly school lunches through weekly grocery and dry goods purchases. SCRIP order forms come home weekly or are available online.
